Do Men and women build muscles differently ?

That's because testosterone plays a big role in muscle development.

While both sexes have testosterone in their bodies, men have more of this hormone.

However, studies like this one from 2000, have shown that both men and women have

similar responses to strength training.



Why is it harder for females to build muscle?

Males utilize their testosterone to achieve greater levels of muscle gain.

Females can't grow muscle tissue to the same degree since we have lower levels of testosterone.

Plus, we have higher levels of estrogen and progesterone.


Is bulking different for men and women?

When a person bulks up, they are adding muscle and fat.

Women can gain fat mass similar to men, but the can't gain muscle the same.

Women don't produce enough hormones in the same amounts as men to allow them to

gain the same amount of muscle mass
